for the building design of the venue, in order to make it a success in the end.



CONSULTATION
For most of the clients, a velodrome is a complete new and unknown design task.
While -for us- it is our daily work since many, many years.

We are up-to-date with all needs of the track cycling sport and are very familiar with the requirements for spectator seating and crowd control from the experience with venues all  over the world.

Each velodrome is individual, has it's individual needs and specialities and -together with the programme- each velodrome is designed individually. The sport needs and technical requirements though are similar, but need to be interpreted for the project in question.

In this phase we are the competent partners of the client for providing all our knowledge for the building concept and design.


DESIGN SUPPLIES

Although the track is one of the last items, which are going to be installed in the venue, the information about the track footprint and the grandstand form is one of the first information, which is needed in a project.

According to the purpose and goals of the venue, we are designing the optimal grandstand form in relation to the shape of the individual track in order to maintain good sightlines in the velodrome.

 

On basis of this fundamental information the hall architects will be enabled to design the stadium, being sure, that in the end the cycle track will fit in the building.


PRE-FABRICATION
All track elements are being pre-fabricated in our workshops in Germany. In this way we have control over all products and can assure, that the quality complies to the needs of our product.

         

Detailed execution drawings and fabrication lists are internally given to the workshop for the production of the track elements, which will be numbered and specified for a fluent installation on the site.

Once produced, the elements will be shipped by sea-containers to the location and unloaded
in there dedicated system order.

INSTALLATION
The site will be surveyed and marked out before arrival of the containers, so that all elements can be easily set up at their designated location.

      

The installation is carried out by our experienced and well educated installation crew.

For supporting works local labour will be emplyed for the time of the installation.
A typical installation time for a Sportbau track is between 6 and 8 weeks.

SURFACE
SportBAU-tracks only use wood from selected sources in Siberia/Russia for the production
of the high class surface laths , which are needed for cycle tracks.

The surface laths are laid onto the substructure in continuous, closed rings. They are fixed
to each other in regular distances and in addition by toe-nails onto each substructure element with galvanized nails. All laths are installed BY HAND with experienced craftsmanship for optimal positioning and surface quality.

SPORTS LINING
Upon completion of the actual track construction works, the official length of the track is
being measured and certified.
Accordingly the sport lining as per UCI-requirements is marked on the track surface and all
lines are being painted finally onto the track surface.

       

CERTIFICATION
The complete deliveries of a SportBAU-track include the final INSPECTION REPORT by an UCI-approved surveyor, who will check the compliance of the built track and it’s properties
with the valid UCI-rules.
Furthermore the surveyor will measure the achieved length of the track and issue an official LENGTH CERTIFICATE for the track, stating the compliance with the UCI-requirements.

READY FOR USE
